Build a Client Site from One of Your Templates
Once your agency has published a site template, it shows up as a design choice whenever you create a new client site. Nothing about the wizard changes until you have templates — this article covers what's different once you do.
Start the site like always
Create the client site the normal way: open the client in your Agency dashboard and click Add Site, then walk the setup wizard — business info, service areas, strategy, and so on. Your templates come into play near the end.
Narrow by category (optional)
On the Name Your Strategy step, agencies with published templates see a Template category dropdown.
- Pick a category to see only that category's templates on the design step — nothing else mixed in. Use this when you know exactly which family of designs fits the client.
- Leave it on "All templates" to see every published template first, followed by Carrot's standard designs as extra options.
The dropdown only lists categories that contain a published template, and it only appears at all once your agency has some — so if you don't see it, publish a template first.
Pick the design
On the design step, your templates appear as cards named the way you named them — with your description underneath. Click one to preview it, then click Continue with selected design.
Carrot builds the new client site as a full copy of the template: pages, layout, menus, and images all carry over, and the images belong to the new site — nothing stays linked to the template behind the scenes.
Make it the client's
The new site starts with the template's content, so text you left generic in the template is what appears here. Give the site a quick pass to fill in the client's business name, market, and phone number anywhere the template used stand-in wording.
From here it's a normal client site: it appears in the client's account like any other, and later changes to the template never touch it.
