Create and Publish a Site Template

A site template is a copy of one of your client sites that your agency keeps as a reusable starting point. When you create a new client site later, you can launch it from the template instead of starting from scratch — same pages, same layout, same content structure.

Create the template

1. Open Agency Settings and click the Templates tab (visible to agency owners and admins).
2. Click New template.
3. Clone from — pick the client site you want to copy. Choose one of your best-performing sites; everything on it is copied, except lead submissions, which never carry over.
4. Template name — name it the way you'd describe it to a teammate, like "Land Buyer" or "Wholesale". This name is shown when you and your team pick designs later.
5. Click Clone into a draft template. Carrot copies the site in the background — the new template shows a Cloning… badge, then becomes a Draft after a minute or so.

The original client site is never changed. The template is a fully independent copy that lives on your agency's account.

Polish the content

A draft template is a real Carrot site you can edit like any other. Click Edit site next to the template to open it and tidy anything client-specific — swap their business name, phone number, and city references for generic text you'll customize per client later.

Keep template copy generic. Whatever text is in the template is what a new site starts with, so phrases like "your local home buyers" travel better than a specific client's slogan.

Organize with categories

Categories group your templates so the right ones appear together when your team creates a client site — for example "Land", "Wholesale", or "Rentals".

• Add a category — at the bottom of the Templates page, type a name under New category and click Add.
• Assign one — click Edit next to a template and pick its category. A category is optional; with only a template or two you can skip them entirely.

Publish it

Click Publish next to the template. Published templates appear as design choices when anyone on your team creates a new client site — see Build a client site from one of your templates.

Not ready yet? Leave it as a draft. Drafts are only visible on this page, but they still use one of your template slots.

Slots, edits, and deleting

• Your plan includes a set number of template slots. The counter at the top of the page shows how many your plan includes and how many you've used. Drafts count; deleted ones free the slot right away.
• Editing a published template — changes to the template site affect future client sites made from it. Sites already launched from it are never touched.
• Unpublish hides a template from the design picker without deleting it.
• Delete removes the template from your list immediately. The template's site copy is archived, never destroyed, and client sites built from it keep working exactly as they are.
